Lactation 101 Consultations

We understand that mothers need a unique care plan that suits their lifestyles and helps them overcome any breastfeeding challenges.

Either in-person or virtual, during our consults, we cover the following topics, as we build up together a personalized lactation plan:

  • Assessment of breastfeeding techniques.

  • Assistance and teaching of breastfeeding positions and latching-on techniques.

  • Physical assessment of mother and baby, including medical history (for in-person sessions).

  • Assessment of sucking performance and ruling out oral restrictions (i.e., tongue and buccal ties) (for in-person sessions)

  • Pre and post-weight checks to determine milk transfer (for in-person sessions)

  • Review of pumping strategies and breast milk storage guidelines.

  • Assessment and teaching of supplementation techniques, adapting to the baby’s needs.

In-office or In-home?

While many families opt to receive sessions at the convenience of their homes, in some situations, the economic factor can be a barrier to receiving all the support they need. In an effort to narrow this gap, we offer 101 consultations at our cozy lactation space, at a more economical rate, and available multiple days of the week.
